The Textile Development Agency (TEXDA) manufactures the highest quality hand-woven fabrics, garments and interior designs. Our range of superb products includes home decorative items like curtains, tablecloths, cushion covers, napkins and placemats, to mention a few. Of particular note is the weaving of kikoy from long strand organic cotton.
TEXDA also specializes in different types of uniforms and industrial apparel as per customer specifications. Our satisfied clientele include schools, hotels, restaurants, hospitals and embassies. We were also responsible for making the costumes in the recently concluded film project The Last King of Scotland.

Company Profile
Our products are made from original Ugandan cotton with the occasional integration of Kenyan and other East African fibres. When this is coupled with the unique prints and surface designs available in various techniques, one finds an innovative range of items yet unmatched in the textile industry. TEXDA also provides training services to micro and small-scale women entrepreneurs in the areas of handloom weaving; dyeing, printing, surface design, basic design, garment construction, new product development, sewing machine repair and business management skills. TEXDA provides these services with the objective of building capacities and capabilities of women entrepreneurs in the textile sub sector to manufacture innovative quality products for both local and export markets.
TEXDA maintains a textile workshop in Kampala city in central Uganda, focusing on weaving and inspired by organic cotton grown and dyed in Uganda. Our bright shop is filled with a variety of beautifully designed fabrics of natural cotton we use to create our quality hand-woven pieces: kikoy scarves, shawls, cushion covers, bags, kitchen gloves, aprons, tablecloths and other accessories.
