Things to carry in the cabin luggage

Remember that sometimes airlines may insist on you checking your cabin luggage. Plan your packing accordingly.

  • Carry all the original important documents (especially I-20) in your purse/wallet, i.e. they should be in your possession at all times.
  • Keep photocopies of your Passport, Visa, I-20, tickets, and travelers cheques, in each of your checked baggage.
  • Keep a few sets of clothes and everyday-use articles like toiletries in the cabin luggage; in case your luggage gets misplaced you need to be prepared. It is also possible that during your temporary and short stay at your host's place (initial accommodation) it might be inconvenient to open your huge bags for every-day articles.
