Learn driving and get an international driving permit. To obtain a Georgia Driver's License, you would first have to give a written exam and get the learner's permit. The actual license is obtainable then, once you pass the driving test.
Get two MMR (Mumps, Measles and Rubella) shots at a gap of one month each. Ask your doctor to write the dates when the MMR shots were given to you on his letter-head. You can then submit this letter from your doctor to the health center at UGA. Contact UGA's Health Center for more information.

Get a transcript made with the marks of all semesters (sealed and stamped) from your undergraduate school. These are due by October at the Graduate School. Degree certificate is also required but can be submitted later (in December). Any other questions regarding the certificates and marks can be directed to the
Graduate School.
Get a complete health check-up (including dental) done before coming here.

Get a good haircut before leaving (haircut costs about $10-$15 in USA).
Make copies of your passport, visa, admission letter, certificates and note down the numbers of your traveler's checks in case you lose them.

Get some change when you come here. You will need approximately $3 at EACH airport for getting a trolley. Remember you need quarters to put in the machine to get the trolley. So get about $6 in quarters (25 cents). You will need some change for a phone call in case of emergency (like missing your connecting flight, etc). Carry $1 in dimes and nickels (10 and 5 cents). The cost of a local phone call (in USA) is about 25 to 35 cents. Also carry $45 for the shuttle and $3 as tip for the shuttle operator.
