Franklin Fellow: Aisha Durham

patricia miller imageAisha S. Durham is the co-editor of books Home Girls, Make Some Noise!: A Hip-Hop Feminism Anthology and Globalizing Cultural Studies: Ethnographic Interventions in Theory, Method & Policy. She received her Ph.D. in Communications from the Institute of Communications Research at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She holds degrees in journalism and mass communication from the University of Georgia and Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a former research/writer intern for Time magazine and assistant editor for qualitative research journals, such as Qualitative Inquiry. Her general research interests include cultural representations, interpretive methods, and black feminism. Her recent Peter Lang co-authored publication, "A Tail of Two Women: The Contours of Difference in Popular Culture" is featured in the book Curriculum and the Cultural Body, which brings together her dissertation work on hip hop and transnational feminism, and ethnicities in relation with African American and Puerto Rican icons Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez.
