Core Faculty: Kelly Happe
Kelly Happe received her BA in Political Science at the University of Georgia and her PhD in Communication from the University of Pittsburgh. After serving on the faculty of Northern Illinois University, she is extremely excited to join the IWS and the Department of Speech Communication in the fall. Professor Happe’s research interests include science studies, rhetoric, cultural studies, and social movements. She has published several articles on the rhetoric of reproductive cancer genetics and is currently working on a book titled Heredity Embodied: Gender, Race, and the Rhetoric of Genomics in which she explores how the practices of scientific discourse create gendered and racialized medical “subjects.” Other projects include the role of women in environmental health movements.
