The Institute for Women’s Studies has provided a feminist interdisciplinary perspective on women and gender for over 25 years. Celebrating our silver anniversary in 2002 - 2003, Women Studies honored faculty who started the program in 1977. Feminist scholar, bell hooks, helped to commemorate the occasion as our keynote speaker. Throughout the years, Women's Studies at UGA has been devoted to issues of gender, race, class, and sexuality. Through course work and outreach, the we offer students an opportunity to explore women’s lives in global and multicultural contexts.

In the current year of 2007 - 2008, there are 32 Women's Studies majors, 42 minors, 2 undergraduate certificate students and 29 graduate certificate students.
