Westminster College, Salt Lake City, UT is seeking a full-time Assistant Professor of Philosophy starting Fall 2009.  24 hour load.  AOS: feminist philosophy.  AOC: applied ethics.

Towson University, Towson, MD is seeking Assistant Professor, Women and Religion in Global Context Women’s Studies Department. The Women’s Studies Department at Towson University invites applications for a full-time, tenure track appointment at the Assistant Professor level, beginning Fall 2009. American University, Washington, D.C. is seeking two Assistant or Associate Professors. West Chester University, West Chester, PA is seeking an Assistant Professor in Philosophy.  Join a vibrant campus community whose excellence is reflected in its diversity and student success. West Chester University is seeking applicants for the Assistant Professor of Philosophy, tenure-track position to begin August 2009. AOS: Ancient Philosophy.  AOC: Logic.  Courses in Critical Thinking and Introduction to Philosophy will be regular classes in the candidate's teaching assignment.  The ability to teach Medieval Philosophy will be preferred.  Normal teaching load 12 hrs/semester. Rutgers University, Camden, NJ seeks Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, Childhood Studies. As part of an ongoing, multi-year effort to build its growing program, the Department of Childhood Studies, Rutgers University, Camden, New Jersey invites applications for as many as three faculty positions. One position will be for an Associate or Full Professor  and the other two will be for Assistant Professors. Candidates must be outstanding scholars whose research interests and projects address the lives or contexts of children and childhood. West Chester University, West Chester, PA invites applications for the position of Associate Dean for Faculty Development and External Affairs in the Colleges of Arts and Sciences. The Associate Dean reports to the Dean and has primary responsibility to assist with the day-to-day internal operations of the Dean's office.  It is anticipated that the position will begin July 1, 2009. *   Provide support for CAS faculty development in areas related to research, grants, and contracts. Work with faculty to enhance competitiveness for external funding.   Serve as CAS liaison to external granting agencies and institutions.
*   Oversee and administer internal grants programs that support faculty development, including CAS Entrepreneurial Grants and Contracts. Provide support for entrepreneurial project development and implementation.
*   Assist CAS departments and Dean with faculty searches.  Support diversity hiring goals by encouraging the development of effective strategies for recruiting and retaining a diverse faculty.
*   Support faculty and departments in developing and implementing assessment plans and responses to assessment recommendations. Facilitate faculty development with regard to assessment.
*   Provide support to CAS faculty and departments to address curricular issues related to teacher education and training.
*   Provide support to faculty and departments on issues related to graduate education including program development, curricular issues, and enrollment.
*   Assist CAS Director of Development, departments, faculty, and Dean with fundraising initiatives and activities.
*   Demonstrate a commitment to the university's diversity transformation by fostering a climate that values diversity, civility, and inclusion.
*   Provide recommendations and assistance to the Dean on an as-needed basis on a variety of topics (e.g., assist in reviewing annual reports and program reviews, assist with faculty evaluations, assist with budget recommendations, and strategic planning etc.)
*   Represent the Dean's Office at meetings and events, and carry out special projects as assigned.
*   Participate in meetings of Academic Affairs Council, President's Council, CAS Executive Committee, and other committees as assigned

The successful candidate will possess a terminal degree in an academic discipline within the arts and sciences as well as a record of successful teaching and scholarly achievement.  Leading candidates will have a record of collaborative leadership and must possess a demonstrated commitment to all areas of diversity, student learning and engagement, faculty development and the ideals of shared governance. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience enhancing and expanding scholarly and entrepreneurial activities among faculty. St. Lawrence University, Canton, NY seeks applicants for a one year Visiting Assistant Professor position in the Philosophy Department beginning fall 2009. The ideal candidate will be able to teach Continental Philosophy, Feminist Philosophy and Asian Philosophy. Candidates must offer evidence of excellence in teaching and be qualified to teach courses in introductory philosophy. The standard workload is three courses per semester, including at least one at the introductory level. The person who fills this position will also be expected to teach in St. Lawrence’s First Year Program. Applicants with PhD completed are preferred.
