Cancer

Breast Cancer Information Center
Maintained by the Feminist Majority Online, this site includes fact sheets, bibliographies, directories of hotlines, and other information.

BreastCancer.org
A nonprofit organization dedicated to providing the most reliable, complete, and up-to-date information about breast cancer.

National Cervical Cancer Coalition
The coalition is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting research and awareness of cervical cancer screening programs and treatment options. One aspect of the group's mission is to act as a clearinghouse for women and family members of cervical cancer patients; its web site contributes to that function with news, conference reports, and vast links for patients and health care professionals.

National Ovarian Cancer Coalition
Ovarian cancer survivors in Boca Raton, FL founded this group that now claims to be the leading ovarian cancer public information and education organization in the United States. NOCC aims to raise awareness about ovarian cancer and offers information about prevention, detection, and treatment. The web site also provides a searchable database to locate books, tapes, toll-free phone numbers, and web sites.

Heart Disease

The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease
WomenHeart is the only national patient-centered organization that provides support, education and advocacy for women living with heart disease. Through our coalition of national organizations and community-based support networks, we offer comprehensive services to women with heart disease and empower all women to take charge of their heart health. WomenHeart is a preferred source of information for public policy leaders and the media. Through our advocacy efforts, all women receive early detection, accurate diagnosis and proper treatment of their heart disease.

HIV/AIDS

Women Alive
Women Alive is based in Los Angeles, California and is a non-profit organization organized by and for women with HIV/AIDS to provide information and support. The group provides counseling and operates a toll free phone line as well as treatment education, advocacy services, and development of individualized treatment strategies. The web site offers access to a newsletter, details about legislation, quarterly medical updates, and fact sheets.

Reproductive Health

NARAL Pro-Choice America
NARAL Pro-Choice America's mission is to develop and sustain a constituency that uses the political process to guarantee every woman the right to make personal decisions regarding the full range of reproductive choices, including preventing unintended pregnancy, bearing healthy children, and choosing legal abortion. NARAL Pro-Choice America works to educate Americans and officeholders about the broad range of issues encompassing a woman’s right to choose and elect pro-choice candidates at all levels of government.

National Right to Life Committee
The ultimate goal of the National Right to Life Committee is to restore legal protection to innocent human life. The primary interest of the National Right to Life Committee and its members has been the abortion controversy; however, it is also concerned with related matters of medical ethics which relate to the right to life issues of euthanasia and infanticide. The Committee does not have a position on issues such as contraception, sex education, capital punishment, and national defense.

American Society for Reproductive Medicine
The society, established in 1944, promotes the study of reproduction and reproductive disorders. Web site offers descriptions of services provided to medical professionals and patients, literature for patients, government news and legislative updates, information about infertility insurance, announcements of society meetings, and links to other related organizations' web sites. Searchable by keyword.

National Adoption Information Clearinghouse
This clearinghouse was established in 1986 as a service of the Children's Bureau of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The web site provides sections for adoptees, adoptive parents, professionals, and birth relatives. It links to the National Adoption Directory as well as to adoption laws, statistics, a bibliographic database, and NAIC publications.

Planned Parenthood
Provides educational resources on birth-control, public affairs information, news, indexed web links, contact information, and information on Planned Parenthood affiliates. Site is searchable.

Lets Get Real Campaign
The "Get Real about Teen Pregnancy" campaign is committed to involving adults, the media, policy makers, community activists and the healthcare community in addressing teen pregnancy in a realistic, thoughtful manner.
