Thursday

Departure from Bozeman  Airport: We will leave Bozeman at 2:00 PM  to YNP.
I  have made reservation for a minivan and a midsize car. So the second car can leave a
little later if a flight is delayed or flight changes were made in the last minute, BUT, please,
if you can, call me at my cell phone 706-215-2978 from the airport you leave late

5:00 PM -- Opening of the workshop with dinner in the Old Faithful Lodge (pre-seated).

6:15 PM -- Meeting room at Snow Lodge:  Welcome of all participants but
                    especially Vladimir I. Rybak,  Vice  Governor from Kamchatka,
                   Organizational comments and
                   restating the goals of the Meeting  (Hoffmann / Wiegel)
6:30 PM -- Short introduction on who is  who at the workshop ("Give your background in  few words")

6:40- 10:00 PM Science Presentations:

       6:40 - 7:20 PM -- Introduction to Kamchatka "The uniqueness of Kamchatka"
                                                                                        (video by  J. Trent)
7:20 - 8:30 PM -- Geology of Kamchatka (Gennadii Karpov / Genia Rainina).

Break with refreshments; 15 min

       8:45 - 10:00 PM -- Geology + (Bio)geochemical aspects and methods)
                 (12-20 min presentations including discussion)

                            (10-20 min  presentations)

                                            Facilities to be supplied / build (various options presented
                                                            by Gennadii Karpov, Frank Robb, Jonathan Trent)

        11:45 -12:15 AM - Identifying and preparing a catalogue of suitable
                                          Granting Agencies to which to apply.
                                          (please, prepare INFO in advance,  possibly on overheads,
                                            see web page 'What to bring / prepare')

12: 30 -3:00 PM  Lunch at OF. Inn and private time to think
 

3:00 - 6:15 PM-- Meeting Snow Lodge:

        3:00 PM: (10 min) for additional suggestions.

        3:10 PM: (20 min): Sorting and writing down on the large flip pads:
                          Outline of Research Goals and Subsequent Tasks to WRITE THE GRANTS
                          Identifying the various breakout groups
        3:30 - 3:45 PM -- Coffee break

        3:45 PM --  Forming the break out groups  (Identifying who is going into which group)
                            Breaking out into the smaller groups for discussion and
                                making more detailed  written outlines.
                            (Meeting in breakout locations including your rooms in the Old Faithful Inn).

6:30 PM -- Dinner at the OF-Inn. (pre-seated)

8:00 - ?? PM -- Snow Lodge and in your rooms at the Old Faithful Inn;
                          Starting to write the backbone of the grants

        8:00 - 8:15 PM -- Feedback / discussion of questions which have come up in the groups

        8:15- until ??   Continuation of working in the smaller task groups and continuing
                                    to write the backbone for the first proposals.
 
 







Saturday

7:00 - 8:10 AM - Breakfast OF-Inn

8:15 - 10:00 AM -- Snow Lodge: Every group makes a short presentation to the whole workshop group, explaining the key points of their discussion and presents on overheads detailed goals and tasks (with descriptive key words and / or questions to be answered under each heading).   Short feedback from the whole group on the proposed work.

10:00 - 10:20 AM - Coffee Break (Snow Lodge)

10:20 AM -- (if necessary, finishing presentation and discussion), every group goes into their working places (rooms, areas OF. Inn, etc.) and continues to write as much as possible for the grant application(s).

12:30 -- Lunch at OF-Inn.

2:00 PM -- Writing - thinking - writing in the breakout groups.

6:30 PM -- Dinner at OF-Inn.

7:30 - 22:00 PM -- Groups present  their write ups (around 8:45 - 9:00 Break with refreshments)
 
 



Sunday morning
(note:  this has been change due to early flight departures and required extended times for check-in)

7:00 -- Breakfast at the Snow Lodge and checking out of the rooms:

8:00 - 8:40 AM --Final presentation of write ups and agreeing on a time table for submitting final versions to identified PI(s) so they can then at the appropriate time assemble, distribute for comments and improvements, edit, modify, and submit the final grant applications.

8:40 - 8:50  AM --Concluding remarks

8:50 - 8:55 --  pick up your  BOX LUNCH (at the Snow Lodge Meeting room)

8:50 - 9:10 AM -- checking out of OF - INN (if not already done in the morning) and
                        getting ready to leave

First Van will leave at 9:10 (latest) to Bozeman Airport, 2nd  car will leave as decided at the meeting.  The  car with the Russian participants will tour the Park and will leave the Park via Mammoth Terrace returning  early Sunday evening to Bozeman.  The first van needs to be back in Bozeman before 12:00 so that the rental car can be returned and the participants can check in for the 1:05 PM flight.
