Louise Wehner, works as a radio host for a jazz show
in New Orleans on station WWOZ. Or rather she used to.
Since her home station in New Orleans was flooded by
hurricane Katrina she has been recording her program
from the studios of WUGA in Athens.

4-H Forestry Field Day relocated to UGA's Whitehall Forest
As a result of the Rock Eagle 4-H
Center being turned into a Red Cross emergency housing
complex for Hurricane Katrina evacuees, the annual Georgia
4-H Forestry Field Day competition will be held this
year at the Warnell School of Forest Resources– Whitehall
Forest, just south of the UGA campus.

Corner Talk will host a public forum to discuss the effectiveness
of Hurricane Katrina relief efforts at 7:30 p.m. Sept.
20 at Hot Corner Coffee, located on the corner of Hull
and Washington streets in downtown Athens.

Hurricane relief update (Sunday, Sept. 4)
The University is making the Ramsey Center's lower floor
ready for the American Red Cross to use in housing evacuees
from the hurricane-damaged area. While we do not know
when the first evacuees will arrive, it could be Sunday
afternoon or Monday. The lower floor of the Ramsey Center
will be closed to the public, including to Ramsey Center
members, effective 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4.

off-campus, seeking to organize fundraising drives and
other relief efforts to assist our neighbors suffering

UGA announces actions in response to hurricane tragedy
UGA President Michael F. Adams today expressed concerns
for victims of Hurricane Katrina and announced several
actions the institution will take in response to the
tragedy. "All of us at UGA are very concerned about the people impacted by this storm in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama," Adams said. "In
particular, our hearts go out to our colleagues at institutions
of higher education in the impacted areas. We will do
everything we appropriately can in support of the efforts
to provide assistance to those involved."
