
In fall 2003, Sandra Sosa became aware of the rapid population growth of Latinos at the University of Georgia. With this in mind, she saw a need for a Latina sorority to support and cater to the needs of Latina women on campus. Sandra researched and compared various organizations on the Internet until she came across Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated’s national website. Sandra knew immediately that this was the organization she wanted to bring to campus.
In October 2003, Sandra brought Pia Duprat, Vanessa Uribe, and Linda Garcia together to discuss the possibility of bringing a Latina sorority to The University of Georgia. Shortly thereafter, Rachel Moreno and Derdlim Henry, who were contacted through the Hispanic Student Association listserv, also became interested in Lambda Theta Alpha and joined the group.
In December 2003, the group was officially recognized as The Interested Ladies of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Incorporated at The University of Georgia. Ashley Reagin joined the Interest Group in March 2004, followed by Cristina Ruiz and Marilynn Delacruz in Fall 2004. On April 10th, 2005, the Delta Alpha Chapter of Lambda Theta Alpha was founded.
On March 5th, 2006, Natalia Suarez, Iyali Ruiz, Karla Hernandez, Zuhai Rivera, Erendira Casas, Claudia Caycho, and Daniela Gonzalez became sisters of Lambda Theta Alpha, known as the "Seven Wonders of the World".
On March of 2006, the Delta Alpha Chapter was nationally recognized as “New Undergraduate Chapter of the Year” for Lambda Theta Alpha. One month later, in April, our chapter was recognized by Tennessee Area One was the “Most Supportive Chapter of the Year”. On March of 2007, the chapter was again nationally recognized, but this year they were awarded "Undergraduate Chapter of the year".
In April of 2007, Noemi Pavon, Alexandra Arellano, Amanda Aguirre, Jessica Ochoa, Angela Zapata, Casey Harrington, and Janay Stargell became sisters of Lambda Theta Alpha, known as "Mission Impossible". And also recieved awards from the Multicultural Greek Council as Most Social and Most Cultural Awareness.
In March of 2008, Brittni Thompson, Itzel Rivera, Annette Alarcon, Cynthia Garcia, Kaysa Rodrigues, Adrianna Samaniego, and Veronica Crawford became sisters of Lambda Theta Alpha known as "Organized Chaos".
In 2008, the chapter recieved the highest GPA award in the Multicultural Greek Council.
In March of 2009, Arillisa Heredia, Mayra Star, Melissa Chavez, Juliana Suarez, Keshia Esteras, Denise Morgado, and Alexandra Hernandez became sisters of Lambda Theta Alpha.
