Water Quality Initiative - Power Point Slide Presentation

Baseline information collected for Georgia's estuaries will provide an important record of past and present water conditions. For instance, monitoring of salinity in these complex areas over time can provide valuable information for the survival of shrimp and other species that depend on specific salinity ranges at different stages in their life cycle to be productive. The data collected by the Marine Extension Service will be incorporated into GIS graphics and computer models, which will visually display the information and be useful in predicting changes in water quality that may occur under certain given conditions, such as drought. The water quality data for Georgia's coast will also be a valuable resource for educational programs such as the NEMO program in Georgia designed to educate local officials about the relationships between land use and water quality.
