First Interdisciplinary Scientific
Research Day
The Microbiology Department was very well
represented at the first Interdisciplinary Scientific Research
Day. Thanks to Alecia Septer, co-organizer of the meeting and the
Associate Executive Chair of the Graduate Students and Postdocs
in Science (GSPS), this conference was a huge success.
Held on July 1st at the Coverdell Building, this interdisciplinary conference showcased research of 60 graduate students and post-doctoral fellows from more than 30 departments on campus. Nine of the poster presenters were Microbiology students and postdocs. Congratulations to Sue Hennigan who received one of the awards for Best Poster! All of our Microbiology graduate students and post-doctoral fellows are to be congratulated for their outstanding posters and for representing us so well.
A special thanks goes to Dr. Harry
Dailey and the BHSI for support of GSPS and their mission to provide for the
professional development of graduate students and post-docs in the sciences at
UGA.
