Chamber Music Workshop

Dear Parents:

Each year the Georgia chapter of the American String Teachers Association sponsors a Chamber Music Workshop for middle school and high school students, with professional string quartet musicians serving as coaches.  This is a wonderful educational opportunity, and each year our students have grown tremendously from the experience of participating.  Chamber music playing teaches independence, as each instrumentalist has their own unique part, yet also demands a high degree of teamwork with other members of the chamber group.  Please see the brochure for details about the schedule of events, or visit the web site at www.uga.edu/music/cello/cmw.

REGISTRATION:  $55.00 per student.

ACCOMMODATIONS:  The cost of the Friday night accommodations is determined by how many students share a room. This year we are seeing very few vacancies available at the Georgia Center or Holiday Inn Express, however the Day's Inn seems to have availability.

  MEALS:  Each student will also need enough money to cover the cost of Friday night dinner and Saturday breakfast and lunch.  Dinner on Friday and lunch on Saturday may be conveniently found at the East Campus Dining Hall Village Summit across from the Hodgson School of Music.  The all-you-can-eat buffet is $7.95 for breakfast, $10.00 for lunch, and $14.45 for dinner (fall 2009 prices, including tax). www.uga.edu/foodservice/index.html

Parents and friends are invited to the performance of all Workshop participants at 4:00 p.m. in Edge Recital Hall on the third floor of the Hodgson School of Music at the University of Georgia.
