UGA String Project Teaching Approach
Classes are taught twice a week in a group format (violins, violas, cellos, and basses together) for all students. There are ocassional sectional classes in which one instrument meets separately. Enrollment in the String Project is a substantial commitment, and any student dropping out of the String Project will not be re-admitted. For those students desiring one-on-one instruction, we encourage enrollment for weekly lessons in the Community Music School. Fourteen lessons per semester are available to those enrolled in the UGA String Project for a reduced fee: 30 minute lessons for $220, 45 minute lessons for $360, and 1 hour lessons for $440.

Mission of the University of Georgia String Project:

  • Provide our students with an opportunity for musical enjoyment and education through the study of stringed instruments.
  • Encourage the personal development of our students by providing them with an outlet for self expression within a structured environment.
  • Encourage student leadership in school orchestra programs and share our accomplishments within the community.
  • Create a partnership of providing accessible string education and mentorship for our students and teaching experience for University of Georgia students who value string education.
