Charles Arnold, Trumpet


Charles ArnoldCharles “Chuck” Arnold was born in Mississippi, raised in Texas, and spent the past twelve years in the New Orleans area. During a ten year enlistment in the U. S. Navy, he served in Navy Band San Diego in San Diego, CA, the United States 7th Fleet Band in Yokosuka, Japan, the United States 6th Fleet Band in Naples, Italy, and Navy Band New Orleans, in New Orleans, LA.  With these bands, Chuck performed in more than 60 countries around the world.
Following his separation from the Navy, Chuck became a freelance musician in the New Orleans area. During this time, he toured with such legends as Maynard Ferguson and Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown. He also backed up such artists as Ray Charles, Little Anthony and the Imperials, The O'Jays, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Al Belletto, Luther Kent and Lou Rawls.
In addition to Greg Thompson productions of "Glitz", "New York, New York", and "More Glitz" at the Biloxi Grand Theater, the Earl Turner Show at Harrah's New Orleans, Chuck has performed with the Broadway touring companies of Fiddler On the Roof, Cinderella, Saturday Night Fever, The Producers, and South Pacific. He has recorded extensively in the New Orleans area, most notably with Afroskull, Friends of Jabu, and the critically acclaimed John Mahoney Big Band, He can also be heard on the Terrence Blanchard score for the film The Tempest.
Chuck earned a BME from Loyola University, New Orleans and has studied trumpet with Bobby Shew, Rob DeDominick, and the late John Wanner. He is currently a first-year masters student at the University of Georgia where he performs in the Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Salsa Band, and the Georgia Brass. He is a student of Fred Mills.
