LAMONT RIDGELL, voice

LaMont Ridgell is known for his incredible energy and enthusiasm that infuses whatever he does with positive energy and a love for life. He is a highly sought-after multiple threat - singer, choreographer, vocal jazz / show choir clinician, voice-over artist, lunatic. He was the director of vocal music at Theodore R. Durgee Jr. High School in Baldwinsville, NY and guest conductor for various vocal jazz / show choir workshops across the country. He’s choreographed and/or staged many major musicals from The Music Man to Oklahoma, Camelot to Little Shop of Horrors and for many award winning vocal jazz / show choirs across the United States and Canada. An alumnus of Interlochen Music Camp, he’s also been on the roster of the Fred Waring Summer Music Workshops, International Music Camp, ShowChoir Camps of America, Phil Mattson Vocal Jazz Workshops, and the UNC Vocal Jazz Workshops & Festivals adjudicating, conducting, teaching clinics and various performances. He’s been blessed to have shared the stage / screen with Andy Williams, The Manhattan Transfer, Janis Siegal, Jackie Gleason, Johanna Gleason, Megan Mullally, Tom Hanks, Billy Crystal, Gregory Hines, Mark Murphy, Bobby McFerrin, Nell Carter and others.

As a freelancer, LaMont is very versatile artist having written & performed 3 solo cabaret shows (two of which premiered at the internationally renowned “Plush Room” in San Francisco’s York Hotel) to critical acclaim. He followed that with the release of his debut CD “Intimacy” (available through Amazon.com & CD Baby) and is currently preparing a tribute to Nat “King” Cole. Many of his character voices can be heard in the Fisher-Price PowerTouch learning system series of interactive books for kids, promo trailer for the TV One documentary “Buffalo Soldiers” heard in Wal-Marts across the country, nation wide spots for The Supermarket Network, the Wal-Mart Television Network and is the ongoing voice for “Dinner In A Snap” heard in supermarkets across the country.

He also lent his singing voice for the soundtrack to the acclaimed video game Gran Turismo 4 and movie trailers for “The Da Vinci Code”, “Casino Royale”, and “Ghost Rider”. He was also a member of the world renown San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus, Choral Project in San Jose, CA and currently sings with the Golden Gate Men’s Chorus, directed by Joseph Jennings.

Mr. Ridgell earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Western Michigan University, where he was a vocalist / choreographer for Gold Company, directed by Steve Zegree and Master’s Degree in Music Education from Syracuse University, where he was a member of Windjammer, directed by Diana Spradling. He currently resides in Beverly Hills, CA and works at the William Morris Agency.
