Giuseppe Lupis Giuseppe Lupis earned a piano degree with highest honors at the Bari Conservatory, Italy. He studied with renowned concert pianist Aldo Ciccolini in Rome, with jazz pianist Enrico Pieranunzi, and also at La Scala Academy in Milan. He has completed all course work for the DMA in piano performance at the University of Georgia under the tutelage of Dr. Richard Zimdars. He is a recipient of the 2005 Franz Liszt Award and the 2003 Concerto Competition Award at the University of Georgia, and winner of the 1989 Italian National Bela Bartok piano competition. Mr. Lupis’s performances venues in the US, Europe, and South America include Temple Square Concert Series, Salt Lake City, Utah; the Cologne Musikhochschule, Germany; Serate Musicali di Milano, Verdi Conservatory Hall, Milano, Italy; Varna Municipal Hall, Bulgaria,; Treze de Majo Theatre, Santa Maria, Brazil. As soloist he has appeared with the Lviv, Latvian, and Bari Symphonies and the Ascoli Chamber Orchestra. His performances have been broadcast in Italy, Utah, Florida, and by Georgia Public Radio. His compact disc of George Gershwin solo works (Phoenix label, 2000) was declared “exceptional” by musicologist Alberto Cantu in Il Giornale (Milan). Mr. Lupis served on the juries of the Premio Massimo Urbani Jazz Competition and the International Singing Competition “Citta’ di Alcamo”. He also has adjudicated for the piano performance degree examinations in the conservatories in Bari, Teramo, and Lecce. |
