Janice Crews

Janice Crews, oboist, received a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Georgia in 2002. An Athens Georgia native, she began her studies with retired UGA oboe professor Dr. John Corina, and studied with Dr. Dwight Manning for her undergraduate and graduate studies, and with John Dlouhy of the Atlanta Symphony. She has played in master classes for Marc Fink, Leo Driehuys, Peter Veale, Mark Ostoich, and John Mack. Ms. Crews is currently pursuing a masters degree in Oboe Performance and is principal oboist in the UGA Symphony Orchestra. She has taught elementary music and private oboe lessons, and currently is a graduate teaching assistant.

Ms. Crews is a freelance oboist, and is currently principal oboe with the Rome, Georgia Symphony. In the summer of 2005, she played with Orquesta Sinfónica de la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León in Monterrey, Mexico in the farewell concert of the Three Tenors for an audience of 45,000. She was recently a winner of the UGA Concerto Competition, and performed as a soloist with the UGA Wind Ensemble in October, 2005.
