Lydia Wu Lydia Mong-Yi Wu, born in Taiwan, started studying piano at the age of three. After moving to the United States at the age of seven, she continued her studies in New York City in the studio of Mr. Shou-Ping Chou. By the age of seventeen, Ms. Wu gave many solo performances including appearances at the Silver Bay Festival in New York, Cornell University in Itaca, New York, and Chinese Young Artist Competition in Washington D.C.. She also studied with Maria Asteriadou and Xak Bjerken. During this time, Ms. Wu was a student in the Ya-Na Ballet School in New York and was an avid performer of Chinese folk dance and ballet. Lydia Wu received bachelor and master degrees in piano performance at the University of Georgia, studying with Dr. Evgeny Rivkin. In 1999 she was a winner of the UGA Concerto Competition and Atlanta Steinway Society Scholarship. A member of Pi Kappa Lambda, she received the Athon-Hughes-Cook Piano Pedagogy Scholarship Award in 2002. Ms. Wu was a member of the Universityof Georgia Contemporary Chamber Ensemble. Currently, Ms. Wu is a DMA candidate in piano performance at the University of Georgia, studying with Dr. Rivkin. She was co-winner of the 2005 University of Georgia Franz Liszt Award and Outstanding Performer winner in the GMTA Senior College Division. As a masters and doctoral student at the University of Georgia, Ms. Wu was a recipient of Graduate Assistantship for four years. She taught piano lab classes, first-year and second-year aural skills classes, individual lessons, and private lessons in the pre-college program. She was an accompanist for the University of Georgia Concert Choir as well as the pre-college program. Ms. Wu is currently an adjunct faculty at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. |
