The
University of Georgia String Project,
(funded by the Knight Foundation) is now completing its first year
with great success. String Project students (grades 3-4) are provided
an opportunity for musical enjoyment and education through the study
of stringed instruments over the academic year. String Project teachers
encouraged personal development and growth of each student while
providing students with an outlet for self expression within a structured
environment. While String Project students are encouraged and nurtured
to become leaders in their school orchestra programs, university
students gain valuable experience toward becoming successful string
music educators.
The University of Georgia String Project encourages school orchestra
students who are interested in music education as a major, to contact
Dr. David Starkweather (706-542-2780/
dastark@uga.edu)
or Dr. Skip Taylor (706-542-2776/
cftaylor@uga.edu)
for further details. Scholarship opportunities are available for
incoming UGA students who wish to participate in the UGA String
Project.
