| THE UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA HORN STUDIO |
The University
of Georgia Horn Studio is a vibrant group of young artists studying
for a variety of degrees. During the 2000-01 school year, sixteen
horn players are working on undergraduate degrees in composition,
music education, or music therapy. There are also two students in
the Master of Music program and two pursuing the DMA. The UGA Horn
Choir regularly performs at the Southeast Horn Workshop and at
venues on and off campus. In the last five years, members of the
Horn Studio have distinguished themselves at various competitions,
including regional and state MTNA solo competitions, the Atlanta
Brass Society solo competition, the International Horn Society
orchestral competition, and the Southeast Horn Workshop
competitions. The students have also been participants in a variety
of summer music festivals and programs, including Aspen, Brevard,
Summit Brass, Hartwick, Disney, and the American Wind Symphony. UGA
horn graduates have gone on to attend such graduate schools as the
Manhattan School of Music, the Eastman School, and the Yale School
of Music. In addition, recent graduates now hold positions in the
Orchestra of Hof (Germany), the San Antonio Symphony, the US Army
Ceremonial Band in Washington, DC, and Kansas State
University. |
