Process for Requesting Computer/Software Services

to be Housed in the Boyd Data Center

The following is the process for requesting computing hardware, applications and services to be housed in the Boyd Data Center. We ask that you fill out the Boyd Data Center Service Request/Evaluation Form at http://www.eits.uga.edu/ops/bdc/service-request-form.html. This will give the Boyd Data Center Evaluation/Implementation Committee the information needed to evaluate your request. This will occur within 7 working days from receiving your request. The Committee will then document and respond why we can or cannot support your request.

If the Committee feels that we can support your request, to house the services in the Data Center, they will provide a cost estimate with a proposed action plan and time line. This will occur within 10 working days from the Evaluation Committee's meeting to accept your request.

Please be aware of the following information:

• That centralization of services is not always the right solution.
• There will be standards pertaining to systems, hardware and security required for any services supported.
• Departmental system administration must be done remotely and all on-site support must be contracted through CITP.
• Cost estimate will be developed by the Committee with an SLA and installation plan. This will require your approval before the request will be accepted.
