RESEARCH COMPUTING NETWORK BANDWIDTH REQUEST PROCESS

Purpose:

To develop a process for UGA Research Computing Investigators (RCIs) to request network bandwidth needs from EITS for projects or grants.

Process:

When RCIs have a need for additional bandwidth requirements for new projects or grants, they will complete the online "Research Computing Network Bandwidth Request Form". (Note: You will need to supply your UGA MyID username and password to accesss the form.) The output of the form will be e-mailed to the EITS Research Computing Liaison, the EITS Associate Director for Network Operations and Infrastructure (ADNOI), and the Associate Vice President for Research Services. The EITS ADNOI will contact the requester and flesh out the complete requirements. If the bandwidth requirements are local to the campus network, EITS will work with RCIs to address their needs. If the bandwidth requirements involve individuals and resources outside of the campus network, the EITS ADNOI will forward the request to the Board of Regents. The Board of Regents will either approve or provide any additional timetable needed to meet the requirements. If the requirements cannot me met by the Board of Regents, the information will be forwarded to UGA's Chief Information Officer for his review.

The Research Computing request will be addressed and a formal response will be sent to the requesting party.
