Why can't the rest of campus look like this?

Applying the principles

This map shows one possible scenario for UGA’s future development.
On foot and bike

Buses and cars circle the perimeter of campus, preserving the interior space for pedestrians and cyclists. New parking decks--wrapped and hidden with classrooms, offices, labs and residence halls--are scattered around that outer perimeter, replacing the current surface parking lots. Parking decks and buses are sited to minimize walking time to any building.

Building space

Space reclaimed from today’s surface parking lots can be used for classroom and laboratory buildings and residence halls, as needs develop and funding becomes available. Each precinct of campus includes student residence halls.
