The University of Georgia Gerontology Center will sponsor a colloquium titled "On Assays and Essays: Toward an Interdisciplinary Gerontology" by Graham Rowles. The colloquium will be held at the UGA Gerontology Center, 255 E. Hancock Avenue, on Thursday, May 29, from noon to 1 p.m. Free parking is available in the rear lot. Rowles is a professor of geography, behavioral science and nursing and the director of the Ph.D. program in gerontology at the University of Kentucky; he is also associate director of the Sanders-Brown Center on Aging. His research focuses on the experience of aging in different environmental contexts. Rowles colloquium will explore the evolution and characteristics of an "interdisciplinary" as distinguished from a "multidisciplinary" gerontology and will describe the development of the program at the University of Kentucky. Rowles also will identify key intellectual issues in blending the biomedical and social/behavioral sciences. |
