MEDIA ADVISORY 62nd ANNUAL GEORGE FOSTER PEABODY AWARDS TO AIR NATIONALLY ON THE A&E NETWORK, SUNDAY, MAY 25 The 62nd Annual George Foster Peabody Awards, hosted by ABC News Charles Gibson, were presented on Monday, May 19, at the Waldorf=Astoria in New York. The awards ceremony will be televised nationally for the first time on the A&E Network on Sunday, May 25, from 4 to 6 p.m. ET. Thirty-one programs were cited for recognition based on the Peabody Boards only criterion excellence. Recipients included HBO for "Six Feet Under"; CNN for "Terror on Tape"; ABCs "Nightline"; NBC for "Boomtown"; FOX for "Boston Public"; ESPN for "The Complete Angler"; and CBS for "9/11." "Once again, the Peabody Award crossed all media boundaries and explored excellence wherever it can be found," noted Peabody Awards Director Horace Newcomb. "We hope to continue to raise the bar in media by recognizing the most outstanding work in radio and television." Administered by the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia, the Peabody Awards are considered the most prestigious award in electronic media.
