UGA OFFICE MACHINE MAINTENANCE MERGES WITH TEC SERVICES

ATHENS, Ga. – The Offices of the Senior Vice President for Finance and Administration and the Vice President for Research announce that Office Machine Maintenance (OMM), presently a unit of Administrative Services, will merge its service operations with the Office of Research Services’ Telecommunications, Electronics and Computer (TEC) Services operations in July. As part of TEC Services, OMM’s technical staff will continue to offer services without interruption. Services include maintenance of typewriters, fax machines, time stamp machines, offset presses and binding equipment.

OMM service technicians will enhance TEC Services’ repair capacity in two critical service sectors: HP printer service and computer repair of Apple and PCs. TEC Services also provides UGA customers with factory-authorized warranty and off-warranty repair of all major brands of PCs as well as design and installation of computer, telephone and cable television wiring systems. Laboratory instrument and biosafety cabinet repair and certification services also are offered.

OMM customers will continue to receive the same high level of service. New customers and customers who have renewed their maintenance agreements with OMM for fiscal year 2004 may call the TEC Services Customer Reception Center at 542-3871 to request a service call.

OVPR welcomes the OMM employees and embraces the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

For questions or comments, contact Mike Stroup, manager of TEC Services, at (706) 542-3871 or Jerry NeSmith, director of Research Services, at (706) 542-2411.
