Saturday, Sept. 29: Football fans attending the UGA-Arkansas game were heartened by the open display of American pride evident at Saturday's game. Red Cross volunteers attended each gate, seeking donations for the National Disaster Relief Fund. Prior to the game, area Boy Scouts handed each fan a large white card with an American flag on one side. On the other side were the words to songs like ''America the Beautiful,'' ''Amazing Grace'' and ''God Bless America,'' which were sung at halftime. The UGA Redcoat Marching Band treated fans with both a pre-game and halftime musical salute to the nation. UGA 34 / Arkansas 23 |
