Athens, Georgia - home to the University of Georgia - is located 60 miles northeast of Atlanta.
Several highways and interstates lead directly into the Athens and two airports service the city.
TRAVELING NORTH

TRAVELIING NORTH: US 129/441, Macon

[1] Take US 129/441 or GA 15 North into Watkinsville. In Watkinsville, Highway 15 and US 129 join.

[2]Go North into Athens. Approaching Athens, at the Clarke County line, there will be a sign indicating Highway 441 North and a right turn (there will also be a sign for the University of Georgia). Turn right at this sign onto Loop 10, the Athens Perimeter.

[3]Proceed on Loop 10 until reaching exit 14, the College Station Road exit. Exit off Loop 10,

[4]then turn left onto College Station Road.

[5]After passing under the by-pass bridge, go through two traffic lights. After the second traffic light, the Visitors Center is on the right in the Four Towers Building. Make a right into the Visitors Center parking area. Parking is available adjacent to the Visitors Center.


TRAVELING SOUTH

TRAVELING SOUTH: US 441, Commerce

From Commerce, take US 441 South for approximately 20 miles.

[1]Travel under the Athens Perimeter and

[2]make an immediate left onto the Athens Perimeter (Loop 10).

[3]Conintue on the Athens Perimeter following signs for the GA Loop 10 (you will have to exit to stay on the Loop) to the College Station Road exit (exit #14).

[4]Exit at College Station Road and

[5]turn right. Go through one traffic light. After the traffic light, the Visitors Center will be on the right in the Four Towers Building. Parking is available adjacent to the Visitors Center.


TRAVELING SOUTH: GA 106

Take GA 106 South to Athens.

[1]GA 106 joins Loop 10 (Athens Perimeter). Follow Loop 10 West to the College Station Road exit (exit #14).

[2]Exit at College Station Road

[3]and turn right. Go through one traffic light.

[4]After the traffic light, the Visitors Center will be on the right in the Four Towers Building.

[5]Parking is available adjacent to the Visitors Center.


TRAVELING SOUTH: US 129, Jefferson

[1]Travel south on Highway 129 to Athens. Upon reaching the outskirts of Athens, remain on Highway 129, crossing the bridge which passes over the Athens Perimeter/Loop 10.

[2]At the traffic light after the bridge, turn left onto the Athens Perimeter/Loop 10.

[3]Follow Loop 10 eastbound to the fourth exit and exit to the right in order to stay on Loop 10.

[4]Go to the College Station Road exit (exit #14). Exit at College Station Road

[5]and turn right. Go through one traffic light. After the traffic light, the Visitors Center will be on the right in the Four Towers Building. Parking is available adjacent to the Visitors Center.


TRAVELING SOUTH: US 29, Danielsville

Take US 29 to Athens.

[1]US 29 joins Loop 10 (Athens Perimeter). Follow Loop 10 West to the College Station Road exit (exit #14).

[2]Exit at College Station Road

[3]and turn right. Go through one traffic light.

[4]After the traffic light, the Visitors Center will be on the right in the Four Towers Building.

[5]Parking is available adjacent to the Visitors Center.

TRAVELING EAST

TRAVELING EAST: US 78, Atlanta

Travel east on US 78 to Athens.

[1]Exit right onto GA 316 at the stoplight (there will be a sign for South Athens)

[2]and proceed on GA 316 to the Athens Perimeter.

[3]Bear right onto the Athens Perimeter (Loop 10) traveling east (Fore reference purposes, there is a sign for the University of Georiga/Athens By-Pass at the junction of GA 316 and the Athens Perimeter).

[4]After approximately five miles on the Perimeter, exit onto College Station Road (exit #14).

[5]Take a left onto College Station Road. After passing under the by-pass bridge, go through two traffic lights and the Visitors Center will be on your right in the Four Towers Building. Parking is available adjacent to the Visitors Center.


TRAVELING EAST: GA 316

[1]Proceed on GA 316 East for approximately 40 miles. Make sure not to exit at the first exit for Athens/Monroe at Highway 78, but

[2]continue until you see signs for the Athens Perimeter (Loop 10).

[3]Bear right onto the Athens Perimeter (GA Loop 10) traveling east. (For reference purposes, there is a sign for the University of Georgia/Athens By-Pass at the junction of the GA 316 and the Athens Perimeter).

[4]After approximately five miles on the Perimeter, exit onto College Station Road (exit #14).

[5]Take a left onto College Station Road. After passing under the by-pass bridge, go through two traffic lights and the Visitors Center will be on your right in the Four Towers Building. Parking is available adjacent to the Visitors Center.

TRAVELING WEST: US 78

Take US 78 West to Athens. In Athens, travel under the Athens Perimeter (GA Loop 10)

[1]then take a left at the next traffic light onto the Perimeter going westbound.

[2]Exit the Perimeter at the next exit which is College Station Road (exit #14).

[3]Turn right onto College Station Road and continue through one traffic light.

[4]The Visitors Center is on the right in the Four Towers Building.

[5]Parking is available adjacent to the Visitors Center.

I-85 North Travel on I-85 North to GA 316 (exit #106). Follow 316 East.

I-85 South Travel on I-85 South to Commerce, GA (exit #149). Follow 441 South.

I-20 West Travel West on I-20 to Exit #172. Follow 78 West.

Ben Epps Airport, Athens

Ben Epps Airport in Athens offers connecting flights via U.S. Air to and from Charlotte, NC. Local taxi service is available for transportation to and from Ben Epps Airport. Rental car service is also available. Driving Directions from Ben Epps Airport: Upon leaving the airport, follow Ben Epps Drive. Turn left onto Winterville Road. Winterville Road ends at US 78. Turn right onto 78 West.

Hartsfield International Airport in Atlanta is located one-and-a-half hours from Athens. There is scheduled ground shuttle service between Hartsfield International Airport and the University of Georgia's Georgia Center for Continuing Education.
