TN Status
As a quicker and cheaper alternative to the H-1B status departments can hire
Canadian or Mexican nationals into most jobs requiring at least a
bachelor’s degree into the TN category. As part of NAFTA (North American Fee Trade
Agreement) Canadian and Mexican professionals may enter the U.S. under this
classification. The TN classification is essentially a modified version of the
H-1B program that does away with (for Canadians) much of the paperwork and fees
normally required for an H-1B. Employers seeking TN status for Mexican employees
must still complete all the preliminary paperwork as for H-1B status.
Only certain occupations are eligible for TN status, so please complete the
requested forms below and send to OIE for approval:

obtain the specified TN job category. The subject of the email should be
New TN STATUS and the body should include
- Employees name
- Job Title
- Job Description.
