Mary Ann has over 35 years experience in all aspects of international education. She started her career in 1971 in Denver, Colorado at International House, Community College and Spring International an intensive English Language program. She moved to Oklahoma State University in 1984 to assume an advisors position and while there completed a dual MS degree in Counseling and Student Personnel. In 1992 she accepted the Assistant Directors position at Louisiana State University and in 2000 she came to The University of Georgia. For 25 years she has played a major regional and national role in NAFSA: Association of International Educators serving, 6 years as the Regional Sectional Chair for immigration and government regulatory issues, 3 years as a regional chair working at the national level to further the goals of international education and 11 years as a member of the Trainer Corps providing professional training opportunities especially in the field of immigration for educators. In recognition of her immigration expertise she was selected to serve 3 years as the national Dean for the H visa category requiring her to write and edit all training materials and conduct training workshops at the national level. She has received numerous awards for her contribution to international education and been selected for the Baden-Wurttemberg Seminar in Germany and Taiwan Educational Travel Grant. She was the first educator, and woman, invited to visit the ARAMCO College Preparatory program in Saudi Arabia. When not in the office she likes to garden spend time with her family, especially her two granddaughters and her 3 dogs.
