What is the UGA Study, Work & Travel Abroad Fair?
- It is an opportunity for study, work, volunteer, and travel abroad program sponsors from across the country and the globe to display information and pass out brochures on their programs. It is a time for students to see the kinds of options that are available to them, although given the high attendance, it is not the best time for individual advising regarding study abroad.
This Year's Fair:
-
The 25th anniversary of the Annual UGA Study, Work and Travel Abroad Fair will be held in the brand new Tate Hall on the fifth floor of the Tate Student Center Expansion.
- This year all exhibitors and programs may register for either one or two six foot tables. UGA programs are offered one day at a special fee of $25.00 which would be deducted from the second day full fee($95.00 instead of $110.00). See schedule for table fees.
- All registrations will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. We are unable to engage in any promises regarding location, proximity to other programs, wall space or electrical outlets.
-
Program registration/exhibition is subject to approval by the University of Georgia's Office of International Education.
Why should study abroad program sponsors participate at our fair?
-
Last year, 2735 students attend the fair 1319 on Wednesday and 1416 on Thursday and gathered useful information about various international education opportunities.
-
Our programs operate in approximately 50 countries each year (varies). Counting participants in external programs, UGA students study in 65-70 different countries each year.
-
Currently, just over 2,000 students or 6% of the entire campus enrollment (graduate and undergraduate) study abroad in a given year, and 75% of those chose either a UGA program or a UGA exchange partner.
-
Almost 30% of each graduating cohort studies abroad have studied abroad for academic credit at some point during college.
-
An additional 150-200 student from other universities transient enroll on UGA study abroad programs each year, forming 12% of the enrollment in UGA faculty-led programs and testifying to UGA's reputation for providing high quality international academic experiences.
How do study abroad program sponsors register for the fair?
- Registration for the 2009 25th UGA Study, Work & Travel Abroad Fair opens on May 15th, and will be closed on July 31st. Registration will be accepted until capacity is reached . . . on a first come, first served basis.
