HOPE Scholarship

If you will be attending a UGA study abroad program and are on the HOPE scholarship, your tuition will be paid for directly by the HOPE scholarship. You need to contact the Office of Student Financial Aid if you have not been awarded the HOPE scholarship for the term you plan to attend a study abroad program. Your book allowance will be sent to you in a check 10 days before the start of your program, as will any other type of financial aid you receive.

The amount of financial aid that you receive for study abroad will depend on the number of hours that you take and the cost of your program. Please consult with the Office of Student Financial Aid as you begin to plan for study abroad to determine the amount of aid for which you will qualify. The amount that students will receive of the HOPE scholarship will depend only on the number of hours they take while studying abroad. You will receive the equivalent of the cost of UGA tuition for your credit hours plus a book allowance. You will not receive the portion of the HOPE scholarship that is used for student fees on this campus. Also, you should be aware that your financial aid could be affected by any scholarships that you may receive for study abroad.
