Use this short quiz to help you decide whether or not you need to take UNIV
1120.
I know how to use GIL to find the location of a book, video, or
map in the UGA Libraries.
- I know how to use GALILEO to search for peer-reviewed journal
articles.
- I know how to use Boolean operators.
- I know how to analyze a Web site for reliability, timeliness,
and accuracy.
- I know how to create a safe password.
- I know how to send and open email attachments and how to check
attachments for viruses.
- I know when and why to send email attachments in rich text
format.
- I know how to detect email hoaxes and phishing expeditions and
how to protect my computer against phishers and adware.
- I know how to use HTML to create Web pages and how to upload
them to a Web server.
- I know how to use Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word for my
class projects.
- I have at least heard of EMMA and JExam (UGA-developed online
programs used in some English and chemistry courses).
- I know relevant laws regulating my legal use of UGA computers and
software.
If you answer “No” to more than 3 or 4 (25%-33%) of the questions, you should strongly consider enrolling in UNIV 1120.
