Services
The University of Georgia Luminescence Dating Laboratory offers the following services to researchers:
- Provide TL or OSL ages on sediments and ceramics at a cost of $600.00 per sample plus a University of Georgia overhead of 10%.
Our turnaround time at the moment is in excess of 6 months. Faster turnaround can be negotiated at extra cost. Costs for samples that require more difficult or involved pre-treatment or a longer measurement time will be negotiated. Discounts are given when more than 10 samples are submitted. The researcher will receive detailed information on the results obtained on each sample submitted and a brief statement of methods used.
- Investigators with limited funds may be offered ages at a reduced cost when results are co-authored with Laboratory personnel. Contact George A. Brook (gabrook@uga.edu) with enquiries.
We recommend that before collecting samples to submit for OSL dating you should consult with Laboratory personnel as to the best collection techniques to employ.
Collaborations
Lab personnel are willing to co-PI collaborative grants or collaborate on grants with other researchers. We can provide luminescence age data and may be able to provide other expertise for particular projects. We have collaborated on several archaeological projects by studying environmental changes at or near sites in Ethiopia, Egypt, Botswana, Namibia, and the Southeastern USA. Contact George A. Brook (
