ACADEMIC ADVISING COORDINATING COUNCIL

The University of Georgia Undergraduate Academic Advising Coordinating Council (AACC) was organized (2002) and is chaired by the associate vice president for instruction. The Council membership includes faculty and staff representatives of every undergraduate school/college plus representatives of the Honors Program, Undergraduate Admissions, the Registrar’s Office, Career Services, and Student Affairs. Charged with the broad task of improving academic advising services for undergraduate students, the full Council meets monthly during the academic year but accomplishes most of its work in subcommittees.

Since it was organized, the AACC has written a Mission Statement for inclusion in the UGA Bulletin, planned and conducted Advisor Workshops, developed an Advisor Survey assessment instrument which is used by all schools/colleges, and examined premed and prelaw advising at UGA. Additionally, the Council has worked to improve the advising presentation that is made to incoming students at Orientation, and has had representation on the Outstanding Academic Advisor Award Selection Committee.

The University of Georgia AACC supports the mission, goals, and Core Values of the National Academic Advising Association.
