Recent News

--The dealine to register for Spring 2008 Regents' Test is Friday, February 29.

--Spring 2008 test dates:  March 5th through 7th, and 17th through 19th.  For further information regarding test administration, please read the Regents' Test section of the University Testing Services' web site.

General Information About the Regents' Writing and Skill Requirement

The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia instituted the requirement that each college or university of the system ensure that students obtaining a degree possess certain minimum skills of reading and writing. These skills are referred to as the Regents' Writing and Reading Skills. There are two System-mandated courses in writing and in reading that are designed to meet the Regents' Writing and Reading Skills requirement.

Students enrolled in undergraduate degree programs leading to the baccalaureate degree must pass the Regents' Reading Skills and Regents' Writing Skills courses as a requirement for graduation.

The Regents' Writing and Reading Skills Courses (RGTE 0199 and RGTR 0198) have been developed to help in the attainment of this goal.

Regents’ Test Requirement

Passing the Regents' Writing and Reading Skills Courses is defined as completing the courses and passing the corresponding Regents' Test. Students who pass will receive an "S"; those not passing will receive a "U."

Exemptions of the Regents’ Test Requirement

Students may exempt these courses through examination by passing the Regents' Reading Test and the Regents' Essay Test or an approved alternative test in reading comprehension and in writing.  For more information, contact your undergraduate academic advisor or the Office of Vice President for Instruction.
