 Private giving offers the margin of excellence that first-rate departments require. We hope you will consider a charitable gift to the Department to support its programs.
Many expenses associated with a high quality academic environment are supported by private funds; examples include the development of financial assistance for bright and motivated students, enhancements in computing equipment needed for graduate student research, endowment of faculty and student awards, coverage of some expenses associated with recruitment of new faculty, establishment of a visiting-practitioner lecture series, and funding for graduate-student travel to present papers at conferences. Large gifts can have a huge impact, of course, but all contributions benefit our programs and students. As a relatively new department, we must begin now to build that margin of excellence.
