University System of Georgia Independent Study offers University System academic credit courses to University System students and individuals who are interested in earning academic credit through self-directed study. It provides freedom from the classroom structure and, as a result, places the responsibility for learning directly on the student. It allows flexibility of registration, permitting students to register at any time and take several courses simultaneously with up to a year to complete each course.
