THEMA is a project comprising transcriptions from medieval and later
manuscripts of theoretical works pertaining to the music repertories of
the thirteenth century. Serveral transcriptions, including Anonymous 4,
John of Garland, Franco of Cologne, and the St. Emmerman Treatise, have
been transferred to hypertext, which allows for critical
cross-referencing with musical sources, and a variety of
"marginal" commentary and
citation of scholary works. Hopefully, THEMA will grow into a major
Internet service to scholars worldwide working with thirteenth-century
polyphony.
