Living in what is often referred to as the information age, many Americans live dangerously misinformed about the world around them. Ceaseless waves of often useless data have caused something terrible to happen: indifference. When confronted with actual truth and a constructive way to deal with it, people shrug it off. "What can I do? I am only one person. How could I possibly make a difference?" At a time when Americans should be outraged by the manipulation of corporate domination and corporate globalization, many choose to do nothing.
People Over Profit (POP) hopes to change this. A newly formed anti-corporate globalization group, POP hopes to help Athenians, Georgians, and Americans to open their eyes to see the true costs of the comfort and convenience that multinational corporations promise. Information can be a powerful tool when it is relevant, and issues like the FTAA, the World Trade Organization (WTO), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and an increasing slew of confusing and sometimes overlapping abbreviations affect the lives of everyone in the world. POP hopes to educate everyone while serving as a forum for discussion and action concerning corporate globalization.
