THE HERSTORY OF LAMBDA DELTA

The Lambda Delta Chapter at the University of Georgia was chartered November 11, 1988 by the Fourteen Ladies of Controversy. The Ladies of Lambda Delta are involved in many of the Sorority's national projects. Sigma Gamma Rho national projects include Project Reassurance, Project Africa, Habitat for Humanity, and the National Bone Marrow Donors Program. The chapter hosts an annual teen baby shower in honor of Project Reassurance where local mothers can get information on child care and parenting. Other local projects have included volunteering at the Morningside of Athens Nursing Home and Athens Tutorial, Coaching for the Cedar Shoals High Dance Team, supporting the American Red Cross and the Rape Crisis Center, and Mentoring the Rho'yal Sapphire and Rho'yal Roses. Campus programs, such as "Rhomania," are sponsored throughout the year not only to entertain but to educate our Sisters and Brothers on campus about this ever-changing world. Founders' Week is celebrated in November and Sigma Week is celebrated in March.
