Museum to show Chaplin film


The Georgia Museum of Art will show the Charlie Chaplin film “Modern Times” July 31 at 7 p.m. as part of its Picturing America Film Series. The 1936 film is Chaplin’s last outing as the Little Tramp in which he puts the iconic character to work as a giddily inept factory employee who becomes smitten with a gorgeous gamine.

Legion Pool offers cool recreation


UGA’s Legion Pool is open for students, employees and their guests. Pool hours are 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is $3 to $5, with season passes available.


Museum Mix inspired by early Athens scene
The Georgia Museum of Art will present Museum Mix, its free late-night art party, July 24 from 8 p.m. to midnight. Museum Mix is held three times yearly and includes a DJ, snacks and refreshments, with all of the museum's galleries open until midnight. The summer Museum Mix is inspired by the exhibition "Shapes That Talk to Me: The Athens Scene, 1975-85." The DJ will be Michael Lachowski, co-founder of and bass player for the seminal Athens band Pylon.
