Editor's Note: I've decided to create an Announcements section of the Stentor, to serve as a community bulletin board for the Society. The announcement below is from a graduate student who would like to do some work with Blepharisma.  If you think you can help, I'm sure he would be very grateful to hear from you. If you have a request of this type, or another announcement you'd like to make, please contact me; I'll be happy to discuss it with you.

Request for Blepharisma strains

Hi,

I'm a graduate student at the Rockefeller University and would like to make species-defined microcosms containing Blepharisma to study their dynamics. To this end I'm looking for axenic or monoxenic cultures of Blepharisma. I'm especially interested in Blepharisma americanum or japonicum, but open to any strains you might have.

If you have such cultures, or know where to get them, I would love to hear from you.

Thanks a lot,

Doeke Hekstra
