Strategic Planning

An extensive process was launched in 1999 to create a strategic plan to guide the University of Georgia for the first decade of the 21st century. A Strategic Planning Advisory Group, appointed by the president, produced a printed document that included a strategic plan for the institution as a whole, as well as strategic plans for principal units within the institution.

The theme of the institutional strategic plan is “Building Georgia’s World University.” Three strategic directions were identified to guide program development and allocation of resources:

• Building the new learning environment
• Research investment
• Competing in a global economy
