Creative Consultants is the UGA chapter of PRSSA's student-run PR firm.
The mission of Creative Consultants is to enhance PRSSA members’ public relations skills through practical work experience in their area of interest, while creatively meeting the needs of clients by providing them with cost effective public relations services.
Washington Farms is a family owned farm in Watkinsville, Georgia, offering an 8-and-half acre corn maze, educational field trips through pumpkin and strawberry patches, as well as a pet farm. Famous for its corn maze in the fall, Washington Farms is a unique and fun way to spend time with family and friends.
This year’s team will focus its efforts on the following activities:
-Develop an on-site survey to determine their current demographics
-Aid in gaining more press coverage for fall events such as corn maze and pig races
-Plan and execute a possible strawberry cook-off in the spring
Started by two UGA students, Chad and Ben Leathers, the Tumornators began as an effort to raise money and awareness for Schwannomatosis, a rare nerve disease that their younger brother, Drew, had been diagnosed with over a year ago. Schwannomatosis is a disease that causes extreme pain due to tumors that grow around individual nerves, sometimes larger than a softball, and often takes multiple surgeries to remove them. Although a new organization, the Tumornators have already gained incredible support and raised thousands of dollars.
This year’s team will focus its efforts on the following activities:
-Aid in the planning, promotion, and execution of event (5k) in spring as well as assisting in efforts to gain a corporate sponsor
-Promote event through grassroots methods and acquiring press coverage
Located in downtown Athens, Cine offers a unique film-viewing experience through a state of the art European style barcafécinéma showing a variety of intriguing films from a broad spectrum of countries and cultures, documentaries, and independent films in a relaxed atmosphere.
This year’s team will focus its efforts on the following activities:
-Utilize PR tactics to reintroduce Cine to the public in the fall and aid in increasing attendance as well as use special promotions to attract college students
-Promote the launch of their new restaurant which opens this August
-Aid in planning and promoting a possible 1 year anniversary event in the spring
Specializing in hair color, Athens local Karma Salon combines the talents of award winning stylists with state-of-the-art equipment and the elements of feng shui, balance and harmony, to create a space that fosters an escape from the typical salon experience.
This year’s team will focus its efforts on the following activities:
-Utilize PR tactics to increase brand awareness and physical visibility loca
-Aid in obtaining possible press coverage nationally through beauty magazines and locally through a human interest story
-Employ PR tactics to garner a more professional image in order to attract a more professional clientele
This 501(c)(3) nonprofit is a faith-based organization that has offered developmental help to disenfranchised women and their families around the world for the past 25 years. Women to the World has a permanent presence in Afghanistan, where they have a full-time school staffed with volunteers.
This year’s team will focus its efforts on the following activities:
-Build awareness and increase visibility within the community. This team will develop PR materials including brochures, fact sheets and press releases, and aid in gaining more local press coverage.
-Determine ideas for a memorable slogan and future fundraising
-Aid in the planning and execution of a possible benefit dinner in the spring
The mission of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society is to end the devastating effects of MS. The Society works to promote research, educate, advocate on critical issues and organize a wide range of programs. Last year’s walk was extremely successful, raising over $30,000 without the benefit of corporate sponsorship.
This year’s team will focus its efforts on the following activity:
-Work with the community coordinator to plan, promote, and execute this year’s walk with a special emphasis on gaining a corporate sponsor.
This nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. The ACS has state divisions and more than 3,400 local offices.
This year’s team will focus its efforts on the following activity:
-Aid in the launch of Skin Cancer Awareness Week in Spring 2008 at UGA to raise awareness of skin cancer on campus. Members will gain experience in event planning and press release writing.
The Brain Train is the proposed commuter rail line between Athens and Atlanta that would link nine of Georgia's colleges and universities with other office, residential and institutional developments along the route. Last year the Georgia Brain Train Group formed a College Board including representatives from the different universities. UGA’s student group is called Bulldogs for the Brain Train.
This year’s team will focus its efforts on the following activity:
-Continue to build buzz about the Brain Train and execute an entire PR campaign. Members will also collaborate with a team in HSBT, Grady's student-run advertising firm.
Northeast Georgia Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA) is a resource team that enhances student achievement through building capacity in schools and providing shared services. Aiming to increase the emphasis on the significance of reading and writing in schools, this year’s account will focus on the following activities:
-Prepare an informational brochure and PowerPoint for teachers explaining RESA
-Coming up with a catchy slogan and logo to make RESA more memorable
-Promote and gain press coverage for conference in October featuring Janet Allen
