Dr. Betty Jones
Advisor

PR Experience:
While I have been teaching in colleges and universities for more than 30 years, I have also worked in different aspects of public relations in educational settings. For 19 years, I designed, edited and wrote for alumni publications. In addition, I planned events for the
college, served as the student publications advisor and ran a print
shop. Presently, I design and edit two publications for nonprofits in Athens.

Why she loves PR:
What I love most about public relations is that, at its best, it helps people. It's all about telling the truth and making people's lives better.
Background:
I grew up in Athens, Ohio, but spent most of my career at Kentucky Christian University. Additionally, I have taught at Louisiana College and Ohio University. I began my teaching at UGA in 1998. I received a bachelor's degree from Kentucky Christian University in Bible and
German; earned two master's degrees (American Literature and
Journalism) from Morehead State University. I received a Ph.D. in Mass
Communications from Ohio University. Throughout my career, I have
taught courses in Graphic Communications, Magazine and News Writing,
Creative Writing, Composition, Drama, Literature and Advertising.

Dream Job:
I'm fortunate because I'm in my dream job. Coming to work each day at the Grady College is the best way I can think of ending my career (in
10 years!).
