Dr. Campbell's Vita.

Dr. Keith Campbell's social psychology research has been widely reported in the media, including the downsides of secret relationships (Feb 2005 Reuters news release), the importance of narcissism and social rejection to school violence, the relationship between narcissism and love, increases in college students' self-esteem over the last 25 years, and how having children decreases marital satisfaction (reported in USA Today).

Research Interests

My research focuses on the regulation of the self in the context of close relationships. I am interested in both how the self impacts close relationships and how close relationships impact the self. Currently I am using the individual differences variable of narcissism as a window into the interpersonal implications of an inflated self-concept. I am also interested in self-esteem, self-control, and entitlement.
