Postdoctoral Teaching Fellows The Position The Fellows Schedule Contact

The Position

University of Georgia Postdoctoral Teaching Fellows are appointed by UGA departments as visiting assistant professors, renewable annually, for up to three years.

Fellows typically teach five courses per year, ideally teaching no more than three different preparations each year and multiple sections of a single course.  Various departmental responsibilities, such as serving on committees and advising, are kept to a minimum or not expected.

Each department designates a faculty member to serve as a faculty mentor to each of its fellows.  As they would with other new faculty, departments provide fellows with office space and secretarial support. Chairs formally evaluate the fellows as they would with any new faculty member, including at the end of the academic year.

This year and in past years, Franklin College provides a modest travel budget for the fellows and the Institute of Higher Education supplements this amount.
